Anime on Teletoon Retro French

Rogers cable has just added Teletoon Retro French and it is on free Preview until Feb 2, 2010.

It has an couple of Anime series:

Rémi sans famille aka Nobody's Boy: Remi

Le petit castor aka Don Chuck Monogatari. It looks like it's a series for young kids from the '70s that never been dubbed in English.

Apparently in January they will add Astroboy.

One of the things that got me into Anime was watching Sous le Signe des Musketeers in French on the SRC (proof). I was able to follow it okay even through I got Ds and worse in French at school.

Astroboy is the show from the 80s.

There are three Astroboy series: one from the 60s, one from the 80s and one from 2003. The best one is suppose to be the 60s series. I remember the 80s series as being unwatchable.

I would expect they could also add Captain Harlock since it supposedly did quite well in French. And I have the impression that there was a French version of Snow Queen (the anime series) done, although it was never done in English.

I never knew Le Petit Castor was originally an anime. Not surprised these anime are being added to French Retro; they're always part of Astral's French stations' weekend cartoon line-ups.
