Tenjho Tenge to air on G4TechTV

G4TechTV Canada's run of Gad Guard will be coming to an end on January 16th, and will be replaced with Tenjho Tenge starting on January 17th at 8:30pm EST. Yes, that's right, they've decided to start dipping into some sparkling new Geneon properties that aren't simply scraps tossed over from G4TV in the US. It will be interesting to see how this one is received.

In addition, there will also be two weekday showings of Anime Current beginning on the 15th, the second one being at 12am EST and 9pm PST. So now west coasters won't have to go through that nightmarish process of trying to record something through their finicky digital boxes in order to catch those early afternoon airings.

To follow up with some more good news, now that 2007 is upon us, Paradox Entertainment will be distributing Bandai Entertainment products day-and-date with the United States, meaning that those ridiculous week-long delays for Canadian street dates will no longer subsist. Not that this even makes a huge difference as virtually the only chain-store in Canada that actually stocks Bandai Entertainment products on the shelves is London Drugs, and even they don't carry Eureka seveN for some absurd reason. However, HMV is currently expanding their anime offerings, so my advice to all of you: special order your Bandai purchases through HMV to help establish enough sales history to convince them to actually stock their products! Future Shop seems to have given up on anime, as they are no longer carrying new releases for any titles. So, it's very important that we make the best of our options, and it would be a pity to see Bandai being left out of one of the most important national chains!

As you can likely already tell, the site has now switched over from phpBB to the much more versatile Drupal for its operations. Of course, it's not perfect yet, and we will be spending the next little while customizing everything as much as possible. So, if you have any complaints or input based on the way things are now, please don't hesitate to post in this thread and help us make the site better!

And in case you weren't sure, our new RSS feed is located here.

The new timeslot will help Eastern viewers as well. There's usually a lot on at 8:30pm (most of which starts at 8pm), and I've always found myself waiting until Saturday to catch G4's anime.

Bandai has Haruhi and Keroro gunsou... buy those.

Rss feed can be found by... clicking the RSS symbol that pops up in the address bar when you go to the main page... (That's how I found it before)

Wow, the comments system is really messed up...

Edit a post and it instantly goes to the bottom.

And the old feed still works...

ADV has Keroro, not Bandai.

We'll look into that.

The new item appeared in Google Reader for me automatically. The old feed is getting new updates (at least for now).

Question: How do we watch topics now? I used to watch a number of topics. It's easier to keep track of the new posts you're interested in that way.

There is currently rss feed for each post (if you click the rss icon in firefox you'll get a list of feeds).. ie(http://www.zannen.ca/crss/node/262 for this topic)

I could install subscription support of jesse asks for it.

You know it's kinda ironic to see big chain stores not providing newer anime while the no-name or small chain stores are really boosting their anime titles. For example, I was about to get GANTZ Season 2 at HMV (as advertised)...and yet, they didn't even have it at all. I went to both Future Shop and Best Buy and still nothing there. Then roughly 6 months later, I've finally got it...guess where I got it from?

CD Plus, a small but rising music/DVD/games store.

At first, they have mostly Manga Entertainment titles, but now they're getting more FUNi, Viz and ADV titles. So, you see the difference between big chain stores and small & no-name chain stores.
I have a feeling that these big chain stores are starting become a dying breed for anime DVDs and the smaller chain stores are going to be the new norm of anime DVD distributors.

Another note, Tenjho Tenge on G4TechTV (uncut, I believe)...WOOT! Guessing they're going to bring back their "harsh disclaimer" for this one.

Ah, that works I suppose. I'll just have to check Google Reader more often. Thanks :)

Heh, well it sounds like a subscription support is something desirable, so it would probably be good if we did have it. :)

Which, of course, is very bad news for anime in general.

That's no fun... you turned off comment editing.

That was asking for some serious abuse~
