Death Note and Futurama to air on YTV this fall
YTV released their 2007 Sales Reel today confirming that they will be airing Futurama this fall. This news is very surprising. Also of note is that Family Guy is being listed on TVTropolis' fall prime time schedule. Could it be that Teletoon has lost both shows?
According to the video, Naruto will also be getting a Zone timeslot in September. It's suggested that it will only be on Fridays, but nothing beyond that is mentioned.
Also, a representative from Corus has confirmed via e-mail that YTV will be airing Death Note in Bionix.
DEATH NOTE – NEW SERIES
Death Note depicts the story of high school genius Light Yagami. Bored of his life and society in general, Yagami uses a death note dropped by the shinigami (death god) Ryuk in order to purge the world of evil. This new series debuts in Bionix Friday, September 7 at 10 p.m.
Let's hope they have the sense to send out screener discs for this one. This is one anime pick up that really deserves mainstream attention. Thanks to Kevin for digging that info up.

There were Ads for Family Guy for Omni i seen them a couple of times, they weren't very good. Though i think the Death Note Time slot might be a little too late, if possible it would be better if it was earlier. Also the Futurama airing on Ytv was a huge shocker, i really didn't expect that to happen. Wonder if they are going to pick up the new episodes.
Yeah, Family Guy airing on TVTropolis doesn't necessarily mean it will be leaving Teletoon, but the way they have it scheduled in the same general timeslots as Teletoon used to have it would seem to suggest just that.
Family Guy airing on OMNI is a whole other kettle of fish. Family Guy goes into US broadcast syndication this fall (I've seen ads for it on US stations like NY's CW11) and that's the version OMNI will be getting, probably with lots of extra editing and/or time cuts.
Without Family Guy or Futurama, it will be interesting to see how The Detour holds up. As interesting as the (non-branded) Adult Swim block on Teletoon has been, I can't imagine they're getting huge numbers off of Squidbillies or Stroker and Hoop (and certainly not Assy McGee). I'm curious to see what will fill the void.
(Though what I'd really like to see is what would happen if the same thing happened to Adult Swim...)

That's good to hear. I was kind of expecting YTV to get Death Note.
Now I can finally start watching this show again. I stopped watching it subbed quite some time ago.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was YTV's only new anime until the new year as well, seeing as they have a few long series running, for the teens (GSD, and Bleach assuming we get new episodes), and for the kids (MÄR, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX).
What I'm wondering at the moment is whether or not YTV picked up any more episodes of Zatch Bell (if available), seeing as they've caught up with Cartoon Network last week. I've been really enjoying the series as of late.

Yeah, that's the only interesting opportunity for 'Futurama.' Reruns of those great original episodes are, well, old news; if the show didn't already quite catch on with a new audience as well as 'Family Guy' reruns did, it won't now.
Well, THIS wasn't expected at all [/sarcasm]
Great to hear nonetheless. Naruto is already pretty popular with the younger crowd. Come to think of it, so is BLEACH. My mom works as a TA in an elementary and one of the fourth graders says it's his favourite show.
I've become disillusioned with Death Note over the years though. I think it's mostly the rabid fangirls, who pair up Light and L at any possible moment. Also, the second half is just not as good as the first. I'm also not a huge fan of the gothy style given to the anime.

Obviously YTV sees opportunity in it as a co-marketing program, which means it will probably air on weeknights at 8pm. I do wonder, though, since Bionix is officially expanding to 8pm this fall, if this means it will air on Fridays as well? It would certainly be a welcomed addition to the block, and would do a lot to attract new audiences to it.
Regardless, YTV must've coughed up a lot of dough for the series.

Wow!
I thought that there was going to be a dogfight for Death Note between the Y and Razer. But I guess not!
Also having Naruto on The Zone on Friday is a good call. A step in the right direction considering it was aimed at kids.
It may be on Fridays for now but let's hope this will finally pave the way to a daily anime block on the Y. (At least 'till the Anime Channel goes online.)

I don't know about that, unless YTV also has the new season set to premiere next year IIRC. Because agian, you must remember, Corus Owns YTV, and Owns 50% of Teletoon(The other 50% owned by Astral Media, owners of Family), so like what I thought about TVtropolis, it could possibly apply to YTV aswell. Maybe it was Corus who picked up the series for the Detour those Years ago and had this in mind all a long(Doubt it).
I'd still like to know the fate of Digimon: Data Squad, Blue Dragon(I have a strong feeling it may be a winter replacement series), Transformers: Animated(Probably for Fall/Winter 2008 though), Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles(Like that would happen), and of course One Piece(Really depends on if FUNi can show YTV that it could be saved).

YTV has the next episode of Zatch Bell listed as "Zatch II".
It could be the episode "Another Zatch," which would mean it's a repeat. I don't know if anything translated exists past the last episode.
If they aren't going to air the whole series they shouldn't pick it up. I hate it when they just leave the story hanging. This only serves to turn off new viewers of anime.

Well I don't think YTV can get new episodes of Zatch Bell, as some rumors(That being just rumors) have said that Viz has canceled the dub of Zatch Bell, which would explain why Zatch Bell hasn't aired with new episodes on Cartoon Network in almost a year. Although I didn't catch Friday's Episode(Still thought it was at 8:30 PM, and was sadden by more of the ninja kid), so if it was new then that rumor is well false.

Well, this was unexpected.
One moment, I think that no new anime comes, & now we have Death Note premiering this fall. WHAT a change of plans. On top of that, Bionix expanding to 8pm really changes things. This makes me wonder about more anime premieres coming this fall. (if that doesn't happen, the CGI classics (ReBoot & Beast Wars) might work out for some Can-Con in the schedule)
Now, about the Futurama premiere on YTV.
This was unexpected. I thought Teletoon would keep it, but it looks like YTV managed to get the series. (well, they could both have it. You never know.) Oh well, it's nice to know about this if Futurama doesn't return to Teletoon this fall.
Like I said, this makes me wonder about more premieres, but if Death Note is all we're getting this fall, it will do me for now (well, until later, if more premieres arise).

Hoping that YTV creates a retro channel of their own, & brings back the memories... Knowing YTV, probably not.

Well, they did air Episode 78 on Friday, which I don't think Cartoon Network aired.
Though that would mark the last episode of a batch of 26 episodes. We'll probably have to wait until Friday to find out. The series has become very enjoyable for me for the past few months, and I'd hate for YTV to be unable to get any more new episodes.

According to Zap2It.com's listing, Friday's Zatch Bell is a repeat. If we do see any new episodes they likely wouldn't be until fall.

or was it Blood+ ?
It is Blood+.
which would explain why Zatch Bell hasn't aired with new episodes on Cartoon Network in almost a year. /quote]It has only been 6 month since CN aired a new ZB.

Damn.
Family guy is going to be everywhere! haha! finally some good news on YTV part side of things. Teletoon on the other hand...they better show The Boondocks 2nd season! that's all I'm sayin.
Definitely. I can't wait to watch new Boondocks episodes.

AS aired a bump saying new Boondocks will start in October; I am wondering when Teletoon will air the final Birdman.

Ah, good to hear. The final Birdman DVD was released today, right after the final episodes aired on Adult Swim. So I'll hopefully be watching them on DVD before Teletoon even has a chance to acquire them!
Just saw this on the Ytv Newsletter ...
Naruto
On August 17th we’re giving you four back-to-back episodes of
Naruto, along with a special Bionix presentation of The
Mighty Avengers movie. It all begins at 7pm…kind of makes us want
to spontaneously burst into song!
Sneak Peek Week!
From August 27th to 30th, YTV is letting you catch a
glimpse of new shows on our fall line-up like
Storm Hawks, as well as new episodes of your old faves!
According to Wikipedia, there is no such movie based on The Mighty Avengers Comics. There is the Ultimate Avengers(Which YTV aired last year in Bionix), and it's sequel, which has yet to air on YTV, however with August being Sequel month on YTV it would make sense to air it(Ultimate Avengers 2 that is).
And the Naruto marathon is going to end this season of Naruto, as said on TV ads(Seen one last night), which I would assume is episode 104.
