At last, good news on Thanksgiving

Someone at YTV is getting some serious work done this long weekend, because an Anime Bulletin was sent out this morning:

Death Note is confirmed! Premieres at 10pm E/P on Friday, October 26.

Good enough! Mark your calendars, because with the final few episodes of Eureka seveN, the few episodes of Gundam SEED Destiny which just happen to be awesome, and now Death Note, this will quite possibly be the best that YTV's Bionix block has ever been.

Cool!

I'll be out of the country on business, though.

I knew it was coming! YTV, I thank you on this Thanksgiving!

Still, what troubles me, is the dub, will it plunged into editing madness like with what happened Gundam Seed, Eureka Seven & others?

Let's hope not.

Let Light's reign begin this October!

Why would Death Note be edited? It's airing in the slot of Fullmetal Alchemist, that show must be more violent then Death Note(From the 5 volumes I've read of it), and it was shown uncut.

I hope it also gets it's encore slot, since that'll most likely be the only viable oppurtunity for me to catch the episode.

But as Primus says, there isn't really anything to edit out of Death Note. There's no logical reason to expect YTV to tamper with the show when there's nothing to tamper with. And I'd barely call E7's treatment "editing madness". A grand total of one episode had visual edits, and I wasn't even the one who noticed. What was more problematic was the fact that some of the early episodes were run out of order - which incidentally happened last Thanksgiving.

Yeah I agree with you guys ... I don't think Death Note gets any worse than that episode where Scar blew up that dog-thingy in episode 3-4 I think :P

At last, some confirmation on its premiere! It's not earlier than the USA, but it's only a 5-day difference. Point is, we're still getting it, so it's all good in the end. :)

If I remember correctly, that was episode 7.

Poor Nina. :(

Bravo to the Y for working their a$$es off. now if only they can get some fresh graphics (and perhaps a new announcer for Bionix but I digress.)

I seem to remember more episodes having edits, I stopped watching it on ytv after like episode 10 but I'm pretty sure more than one episode has visual edits. :/ Though I don't really mind, just pointing it out. xD

But yeeeys Death Note! >:3 I'm still kinda pissed as to why they had to move the date and why it was conveniantly placed right after the AS premiere. :/

About time YTV ! I was so disappointed when they announced, then backed down in early September. Time to program the old VCR !

I meant Avatar marathon today. I missed the first episode.

Which I won't be able to see today. :/

Actually, Death Note's content is (more or less) worse then FMA. While there's less blood and physical violence, there's non-stop death in each episode.

Granted, there's at least one death in each episode. And the fact that the show is about a mass-murderer killing murderers is pretty intense.

Boondocks season 2 premiers today, Avatar (missed first episode) and Death Note later this month. Epic, much?

Sorry to spoil the celebrations about Death Note but YTV has changed their nightly lineup on Monday to Thursdays.
Here it is:
9:00PM: Futurama
9:30PM: Pinky And The Brain
10:00PM: Naruto[reruns]
10:30PM: Shadow Raiders
11:00PM: Mystery Hunters
11:30PM: Prank Patrol
These schedule changes, in all probability, were made because of Cancon issues again(already?). The only surviving anime show to this change are the Naruto reruns. At least it's not bad as 2006's disasterous Cancon Purge, where the nightly anime block was dropped altogether.

hmm, i dont mind it if it wasn't for prank patrol i might one day get bored and sit throughout the whole thing. Though i easily agree with Kefka, no Monster Warriors alone makes this MUCH better.

I watched the block tonight, checking their "coming up next" bumpers near the end of the shows.

Upon some thought after my posting above, I might be wrong in this being permanent: this might be a temporary change what with it being Thanksgiving and the schedule being all out of whack. Didn't they say in the Avatar marathon email that they were going to change their schedule? Because of this ambigious mention, I decided to post tonight's somewhat concerning schedule. We should all know in a few hours(or whenever YTV updates their schedule) if this is to be permanent or just a coincidence.

I guess you guys are right.

I was just being overcautious. I mean, at any point they could edit something, but like I said, I was overcautious.

If this is permanent, this is one sucky downside.

YES. No. More. Monster Warriors.

This is some good news. I agree with Kefka, this makes it SO MUCH better.

Is the Boondocks premiere in Canada or the US?

Kefka_Pallazo's right. While checking for Avatar on YTV today, the Rogers box also had that portion of the schedule listed, despite YTV's schedule still listing IY/FMA/Shadow Raiders repeats. I checked during 10:30-11:00 during a commercial for Crayon Shin-chan, and Shadow Raiders was airing.

It's for the USA.

I can't wait for it to air on Teletoon.

I bring more good news: we're going to get Boondocks 's second season in November. Specifically we're getting it on November 18th at 10:30PM(repeats 12:30AM) on Teletoon. This is at least according to their press release for November, check their press page's program highlight page for more details(corp.teletoon.com; goto Press Room, Program Highlights, should be the first item on the page).
Here's the part of the press release which confirms it:

Quote:

New Episodes on The Detour on TELETOON
The Detour on TELETOON brings new episodes of 8 shows to televisions this November including new Minoriteam, Rick and Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in All the World and Sealab 2021. The Detour also welcomes back Huey and Riley in a new sharp season of The Boondocks each Sunday night at 10:30 pm and 12:30 am ET/PT beginning November 18.

Now then, upon further "research", my notice of YTV's bizarre schedule change is seeming to become more and more seeming like a false alarm(eg., a one-day thing): YTV's More Show Times listing still lists IY, Naruto and FMA on Monday October 22nd at their usual times. We'll know by 10:00PM(or earlier, if YTV actually updates the schedule pages) if my worries were unwarranted. I'm still skeptical though, what with the last few days of unannounced schedule changes(Avatar being pre-empted for Pokemon Jiriachi Wish Maker on Friday, tonight's schedule, etc.).

Someone mentioned that they aired the Fresh Prince Thanksgiving special out of nowhere? I'm guessing that they threw on a bunch of specials at the last minute without bothering to update the schedule, and just pushed a bunch of CanCon stuff on later at night to compensate.

All day long was Thanksgiving specials. Not surprising considering it was Thanksgiving and all. They'd been promoting Thanksgiving for about a week only on YTV; no clue about scheduling.

Well, I'm afraid the weekday schedule changes are permanent, at least for now. Their schedule now confirms everything I've worried about since late last night(at least for Monday - Thursday). Check YTV.com's schedule now for details.
For those who were worrying about Bionix being maligned for what Telefilm Canada ails for, don't: Bionix has not been affected.

I don't see anything listed on Zap2it, but I would suspect they'll do what they did with the Pokemon movie last Friday and run a marathon 5pm-7pm. Since the regular episode fits during that block, it's the most likely place. If not, then they'll at least run episode 3.

DAMN!

Well, other than Naruto, I guess that means we'd have to wait for the weekend for the MAJOR anime.

The only new anime on YTV is on Friday (and Saturday if you like Yu-Gi-Oh! GX) anyways. It's a bit early to be messing around with the schedule. If they really need to run CanCon then why slate a block for anime?
