Flashpoint
The Strategic Response Unit is a team of cops like no other - they're the elite, the blueblood of the force. High risk is their business, and life-and-death stakes are their world. The SRU team is also unique; they rescue hostages, bust gangs, defuse bombs, climb buildings, see through walls and talk down suicidal teens. It takes years on the street, intense physical conditioning and elite marksmanship to qualify for the SRU. They have to prove that they're at the top of their game on a daily basis - because if they're not, there are hundreds of others willing to step in and take their place.
The team uses state-of-the-art equipment - sniper rifles, snake-cameras, robots, flash-bangs, night-vision and Tasers. But beyond all of the cool gadgetry, the most important weapons in their arsenal are human intuition, a gift for words and their ability to read emotion. Each team member is uniquely trained in negotiating, profiling and getting inside a subject's head. They stand out because of the rare balance between lethal hardware and people skills: pure muscle and pure intuition. They're the envy of law enforcement everywhere.
The stakes are always high in Flashpoint -- only here, the lives of the men and women on the team are also always on the line. That's the nature of the job.
The SRU may be heroes, but they are also human. At the end of the day, they each go home haunted by what they've seen, by what they've had to do - pursued by new demons which they cram into already bulging closets. They lock down emotion and they second-guess decisions made in the heat of the moment. These individuals are constant witnesses to the extremes of human distress. Not everyone is cut out for this.
If you're a cop, you're three times more likely to kill yourself than to be killed by a bad guy.
They've been covering this a fair bit over at MoonChase lately (though the lack of formatting in their episode summaries makes me cringe).
Flashpoint is created and written by Stephanie Morgenstern (Sailor Venus #1) and her husband, Mark Ellis. Stephanie appeared as a hostage in the first episode.
Note that it airs Thursday at 8pm EST this week. I'm not sure if this is a permanent schedule change, but it likely will be.

It's also interesting that it's got the lead singer from "The headstones" and and a former power ranger as part of the cast. :)
That said, I've been watching it and it's quite watchable although if they're not careful (only 2 episodes in I know) the shows will start to get too predictable. Still, it is worth checking out and a nice change of pace form all the CSI clones and that stuff out there in TV land.

Well, Hugh Dillon's been doing a lot of non-musical TV appearances lately. He hosts IFC Canada's documentary series about comic books and he starred in the dramatic series Durham County, which aired on The Movie Network and MovieCentral, then Global.
By the by, Amy Jo Johnson--the former Power Ranger--has also had something of a musical career.
I didn't realize Amy Jo Johnson was a part of the cast before I saw the pilot, and I kept looking at her and thinking "I know this actress, who is she?" I think the darker hair threw me off.
I'm finding Enrico Colantoni's character (Sgt. Gregory Parker) similar to his portrayal of Keith Mars in Veronica Mars.
I found it kind of amusing that Stephanie Morgenstern didn't have any lines in the pilot. I kept expecting her character to say something. From what I've heard, she will be making other appearances :)

Dose anyone know if there is a tie with an American broadcaster on this show? Just wondering if it is something like Due South was or something as I think I could have swore I saw it on the listing for CBS.

Yes, CBS airs it too. CBS changed the premier time to Thursdays at 10pm (which is why CTV made the change, I'm sure).
CTV has time-shifting, but CBS repeats Flashpoint on Sundays.

CTV repeats it on Sundays, too.
CTV has even gone so far as to coin the ridiculous term "reverse simulcasting" for this arrangement.
It's not 'reverse' at all. The American broadcaster is very much in charge of determining the timeslot; the Canadian broadcaster is simply simulcasting with that timeslot.
I couldn't find the Sunday airtime when I scanned through the listings on the Tivo. So I wasn't sure if CTV repeated it then too.

The show seems to be doing well, it's averaging over 7 Million per episode in the US so far, and keeps hovering around the 1 Million Canadian mark, IIRC. Apparently the timeslot shift was done because CBS has become somewhat confident in a show that they had low expectations for.

Anyone know what happened to this show or if it's dome for now?
I know it got displaced because of the US debates but I haven't seen it on the air or in any listings for a good 2 weeks now.
I just hope it didn't get canned.

It hasn't been canceled, but for some reason we didn't get all of the episodes for season one. CBS did renew for another season, so it will come back.
I'm just not sure when.
I think CTV stopped airing because CBS stopped airing.

The season was supposed to be 13 episodes, but they didn't air the last four. They were talking about it on Moonchase a while back (see here), but they didn't seem to have any information about when the missing episodes would air.

I believe one of the staffers who post on the Facebook group said something about the show's remaining episodes airing mid-season or something, I can't remember exactly. And just don't hold me to it either.
