Talkback - Bleach
15 year-old Ichigo Kurosaki is a boy that has an ability to see ghosts. Through this ability, he encounters Rukia Kuchiki, a female Death God (a.k.a Shinigami) who was on a mission to hunt a Hollow, an evil spirit that preys on humans with spiritual power. However, with the Hollow targeting Ichigo's family, Rukia attempts to transfer some of her Shinigami powers to Ichigo in order for him to save his family. However, Ichigo ends up taking all of her energy, yet is able to get rid of the Hollow regardless. With his newfound powers, by helping spirits find peace & slaying Hollows Ichigo begins to perform the duties of a Shinigami, unaware of the troubles that lie in store for him.
(Yes, I started the thread roughly 2 weeks early. Starting a thread a little early never hurt anyone. :P)
Bleach airs on YTV during Sundays (late-night Saturday) from 1:00-2:00 AM.

I have to say, Bleach is my favourite shonen series. The characters, the plot, the setting & the twists were all reasons why. As incredibly "Shonen" as this series gets, somehow, it just lured me in. No other shonen series has gotten me so hooked before. Heck, I daresay even the fillers aren't that bad, IMO. Better than Naruto's fillers at least. :P
How I came across it was rather strange as well. I was aware of the serie's existence, yet I didn't bother reading the manga, due to an initial lack of interest & no stores selling manga near me at the time. However, my cousin accquired the first 16 eps of the anime (subbed of course) from a friend, and asked me if I wanted to watch it. I was unaware that an anime of it even existed at the time. Thinking "why not?", I started watching it.
5 days later, I hopped onto the Bleach bandwagon. I haven't gotten off since. :)
Anyways, what do you guys/girls think about Bleach's intended timeslot? I think it's a good timeslot, but I would like to see it take IY's slot when it finishes, and let something new take its timeslot. Like Case Closed. :roll:

I really hope Bleach gets better, i havent had time to watch it with everything else, but i did manage to read the first manga which didnt really catch my interest all that much. Now, i know its only the first volume and probably isnt as good as the entire series is cracked up to be so I will watch along with YTV hopefully. My favorite Shounen series is still Naruto xD And the timeslot is okay, although from what ive heard its less violent than E7 so the timeslots should have been switched... but then again, E7 might not get the same audiance appeal at 10:30, so really I guess the time slots fine as long as its editless xD

I'm just praying that we'll get uncut opening & ending themes.
I don't mean to sound rude but, honestly, why is it so dire that we get a whole 1:30 of opening theme. I mean, yes, the bleach opening is very catchy, but it isn't like you loose your comprehention of the entire show because of 30 less seconds of opening theme.

All this talk about Bleach openings/endings.... If you really want to see them unedited, then odds are they will be fine on the DVD. (Vol. 1 is out in November)
I have only ever seen the first half of episode 1, so I'm interested in seeing what all the hype over non-filer episodes is all about.

I know they'll be unedited on the DVDs, but it's senseless to send YTV a version that had been edited for time constraints on Adult Swim. I really want to see less of that happening.

They used to do it themselves, but I guess WS wants to spend less money on editing as possible. They don't even do redubs for AS anime shows anymore(then again, most of the shows they pick up require very little editing).

Michelle Ruff does a good job as Rukia. Bosch will take some getting used to, but in his defence (according to an interview I read), the ADR director wouldn't let him do it any deeper/pissier. Looks like a good dub. Now all we need to do is wait.

it's a given.. we always fall behind, we're never ahead in anything. one time we were ahead in naruto i think but cn shows naruto marathons like every freaking weeekend(something ytv would never do) so that didn't last too long.

I'm really impressed with the job Viz did on translating the opening scene. ALL of the text fits perfectly.
As far as the short dub clip, I found Rukia to be good, but it's almost like a slightly less emotional Euginie (Gankutsuou) for who she also did the acting. JYB seems like he'll do a good job. He's earned a pretty good rep in my eyes for Kiba and Vash.

I heard something about the serialization for 20CB having abruptly ended this month with a promise that the final chapter will be printed next year. Have you heard anything about this? I really hope it's not true, especially considering that the question your user name represents still hasn't been answered.
